LIBRARY LINES for week beginning 14 December 2020

Final Storytime today

Join us for the final Storytime session for 2020 today Wednesday 16 at 10.30am.

1 week until Christmas

Library Closure

Reminder that the Library will be closing between 5pm Christmas Eve and reopening at 10.30am Tuesday 5 January. No items will be due during this period, but the afterhours return chute will be available for those wanting to return their items.

So, pop in and stock up on your reading and watching materials as the due date for books, magazines, Binge DVDs and talking books is now January.

Let’s welcome back the toy collection

As of this week you will start to see the toy collection come back. The toys that will be released are ones that can be cleaned easily. Please note that due to cleaning processing the toys can NOT be played with in the library. They must be selected, borrowed and taken home without being removed from packaging. This process must be followed to ensure the collection continues to be available to everyone.

Summer Reading Challenge is back

The Summer Reading Challenge is back for the kids again this summer with the theme “Myths, fairy tales and legends’. Why not drop in and pick up your pack. The challenge is great for all kids aged from Preschool to Year 12 and there are some fun prizes to win throughout the summer.

Reminder that there is a list of suggested readings in your bag and on display in the library for you to choose from and that there are lots of fun prizes awaiting you all in the lucky dip box.

Reminder that Grenfell library members only have access to the BorrowBox deal starting Sunday 1 November

The sequel to The dressmaker by Rosalie Ham is coming. Why not read the original before the sequel is released? From November 1 all members have access until December 30 on BorrowBox without any waiting. This means that 10 of you can borrow the eAudio or the eBook at the same time. So, jump online and join BorrowBox. It is free for everyone.

Activities in January for kids
In the new year there will be a few activities available for the kid. We have Decorate your own library bag and or those wanting an afternoon of laughs get yourself a team together and register for the Kids Trivia @ the Library. With restrictions easing again I have been able to double the number of teams allowed for Trivia. There are some fun prizes to be had and the Candy bar will be open for snacks. Bookings are required for all activities. Further details are available via the library website, in the library or the library Facebook page. Keep an eye out as the events listing will be updated with more events.

Story Box Library now available to be accessed in Library

Some people would have noticed the new TV that has been installed in the kids’ section of the library. We have hooked up the Story Box Library for you to utilise while in the library. Just ask next time you are visiting.

Cinema returning February 2021

Thanks to the relaxation of restrictions and new release movies coming out late January I will be reinstating the cinema in February. So, pencil in Saturday 13 February 8pm for opening night. Since it will be Valentine weekend for those who celebrate why not make it a date night and organise dinner prior to the movie. Restrictions will be announced closer to the date as these are changing regularly.

Options for eBooks & eAudiobooks

Are you aware that as a member you have free access to different platforms for eBooks and eAudiobooks? Don’t forget that for the kids we have free access to Story Box Library. More information is available on the library website at https://grenfellpubliclibrary.org.au/elibrary/
