5 weeks until Christmas
The countdown is on until Christmas and it has been a long year getting here. With restrictions easing there are a few activities now happening. Check out the events listing below for further details.
Have you bought your Christmas Raffle tickets yet?
Have you thought about how to pay for the Christmas groceries? Are you starting to organise what you will be doing or eating? FOGL have kicked off their Christmas raffle. Tickets can be purchased from the library and are priced at $2 each or 3 for $5. Prizes include $200 IGA voucher, $200 voucher for Grenfell Butcher and $100 to be spent at any other Weddin Shire business. You must be in it to win.
Reminder that Storytime is back
Join us for Storytime each Wednesday morning at 10.30am from November 11 until December 16.
Reminder that Grenfell library members only have access to the BorrowBox deal starting Sunday 1 November
The sequel to The dressmaker by Rosalie Ham is coming. Why not read the original before the sequel is released? From November 1 all members have access until December 30 on BorrowBox without any waiting. This means that 10 of you can borrow the eAudio or the eBook at the same time. So, jump online and join BorrowBox. It is free for everyone.
Time to clean out the handbag collection for Share the Dignity
During the week of 20-29 November, the library will be the drop off point for those wanting to participate in the #IT’S IN THE Bag campaign. So, start putting your bags together. The checklist are available with more details at https://www.sharethedignity.org.au/event/its-in-the-bag/iitb-info?fbclid=IwAR3fo_xiG5D-BLGwZAehYxY4vPQOvo1Y4QRRrVMcYtEuFO_Ge2f4YO6MYKg The library will have bag tags ready for you to attach when dropping your bags in from November 20. The last day to drop off the bags to the library is Saturday 28 November. I have tags for the bags ready to go.
Free online Author Talks
Thanks to the NSW Public Libraries Association and the coordinating committee made up of various librarians across the state we now have access to free online author talks. Bookings are required via the link on the event listing on the library Facebook page.
There are only a couple of talks left for 2020 and they are General Sir Peter Cosgrove on Monday 30 November, and Mary Li on Thursday 10 December. Reminder that these events are free, but you must book in prior to the event to guarantee a spot.
1,000 Books before School
To the 1,000 books families who have registered. If you have completed your reading log please drop them into the library to ensure that your child receives their certificate(s). So, lock in Saturday 21 November at 10am.
For those who haven’t registered their child it is never too late especially if they are attending the Grenfell Pre-School & Long Day Care Centre, the books read will count towards the 1,000-book total.

Are you aware that as a member you have free access to different platforms for eBooks and eAudiobooks? Don’t forget that for the kids we have free access to Story Box Library. More information is available on the library website at https://grenfellpubliclibrary.org.au/elibrary/
