LIBRARY LINES for week beginning 10 February 2020

What an amazing first session of Baby Bounce and Preschool Storytime we had for 2020. Thank you to everyone for coming. We will be back on Wednesday 19 February at 10.30am for Baby Bounce and 11am for Preschool Storytime.

The Summer Reading Bingo Challenge is over for another holidays and I want to congratulate all the kids who met the challenge and read outside their boundaries. The program will be back next summer.

Congratulations to the families who are participating in the 1,000 books before school program. The first quarterly presentation was held last Saturday, and we got to meet some amazing kids who are learning to love reading, books and libraries. Only a few new magazine titles received this week and they include Grass roots, Small farms, RM Williams outback, Great walks, Australian Photography and Country style.

Some more kids’ books are available this week and they include The Adventures of Tintin: the castafiore emerald; Tintin and the lake of sharks; The black island and Destination moon, Amelia Fang and the lost yeti treasures by Laura Ellen Anderson, A wishing-chair adventure: the witch’s lost cat by Enid Blyton, Danny Best by Jen Storer, Wolf girl 2: the great escape by Anh Do, Middle school: Rafe’s Aussie misadventure by James Patterson and Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta.

There are new fiction titles available this week and they include The girl in the painting by Tea Cooper, She’s out by Lynda La Plante, A minute to midnight by David Baldacci, Before and After ever happy by Anna Todd, A Mrs Miracle Christmas by Debbie Macomber, The cockroach by Ian McEwan, The understudy by BA Paris, The little Paris bookshop by Nina George and A fatal fleece by Sally Goldenbaum.

Some great new Large print titles are now available and include Buck Peters, ranchman by Clarence E Mulford, Mabry’s challenge by Ben Tyler, Desperation trail by LL Foreman, Men of violence by Bill Brooks, Flintlock: hell’s gate by William W Johnstone, Hard trail to breakneck pass by Terrell L Bowers, Long ride to serenity by Harry Jay Thorn, Kill the tin star! by Jake Henry, Land of the saints by Jay Clanton, The drifter by Lauran Paine, The essence of malice by Ashley Weaver, Choker by Frederick Ramsay, Dark Saturday by Nicci French, Curtains for Miss Plym by Kathleen Delaney and Ghost on the case by Carolyn Hart.

Lots of new nonfiction titles are now available and include The Australian Women’s Weekly healthy food everyday, Weeklight by Donna Hay, Annabel Karmel’s new complete baby and toddler meal planner, Driver’s atlas Britain, Taste breakfast; Chocolate and Bake, Science experiments, Australia’s funniest yarns by Graham Seal and Delicious recipes for allergen-free cooking by Roni Askey-Doran.

A number of new DVDs are now available and they include The Wiggles: party time!, Ugly dolls, The wizard of Oz, Little monsters, Gemini man, Hustlers, Joker, The goldfinch, Darrow & Darrow: in the key of murder, The Truman show, Independence Day, The way home, Hoodwinked and X-Men origins: Wolverine.

Tuesday 25 Feb Friends of Grenfell Library (FOGL) Monthly meeting 6.45pm for a 7pm start in Library. Everyone is welcome.
