LIBRARY LINES for week beginning 28 May 2018

Library Week was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated towards the Biggest Morning Tea. The National Simultaneous Storytime was fantastic as we were part of 1,062,230 participants.

The competition for the new Library card images is currently underway and closes this Saturday 2 June 2018 at midday. Entries will not be accepted after this date. Entry is free. The images selected will be used as the background to the new library cards and open to all ages. Entries will be divided into Junior (17 and under) and Adult (18+). Entry forms can either be picked up from the Library or be downloaded from our website. https://grenfellpubliclibrary.org.au/whats-on/

I am looking for volunteers to help with the Second-hand book sale during the Henry Lawson Festival. There is no heavy lifting required. You can work for a minimum of 1 hour or a few hours. The sale will be held on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm inside the Library. If you are interested please contact the Library and I will slot you into the schedule.

There are some great new kids books that are available for loan. They include titles such as Boy by Roald Dahl, Friday Barnes: under suspicion and Girl Detective by R.A. Spratt, The Bad Guys: Intergalactic gas by Aaron Blabey, Hot Dog series 1, 2 and 3 by Anh Do, Ninja Kid by Anh Do, Brotherband: the caldera by John Flanagan, Weirdo 9: Spooky weird! By Anh Do, No tooting at tea by Alastair Heim and Charlie and Lola: Look after your planet.

The latest nonfiction books include Abel Tasman by Maria Gill, The Easter story: the brick bible for kids by Brendan Powell Smith, Lonely Planet: Food trails, Lonely Planet: Culture trails, Survival skills handbook: dangerous animals, Survival skills handbook: dangerous plants and How recycling works.

Some of the latest DVD titles include The Kingsman The golden circle, Daddy’s home 2, Three summers, Snatched and Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Wednesday 30 May, Book Donation drop off at our storage place off George St and down the driveway. 10am – 12noon.

Thursday 31 May, Book Donation drop off at our storage place off George St and down the driveway. 10am – 12noon. This will be the last drop off time prior to the Festival.

Friday 1 June, Board games & Lego. From 3pm.

Saturday 2 June, Entries close for Library card image competition at 12noon. No entries will be accepted after this date so get your entries in on time to ensure you get a vote.
