LIBRARY LINES for week beginning 9 April 2018

The big event of the Library calendar this year is the Competition for a new library card image. The entry form is available here. More details are available here. Alternatively you can be pick up entry form and details in the library. The competition is open to all members of the community. Entries close Saturday 2 June at 12 noon. All submissions are to be dropped off to the Library and its free to enter. Voting will be by popular vote during the Henry Lawson Festival. The top 10 adult and top 10 children winners will be presented to a community committee to decide on the final 2 who will be sent to the card company to use for our new library membership cards. So, for you to design the image you need the theme which is “What does Weddin Shire mean to you in an image’? So, get designing as you never know unless you enter if your image will be chosen to be on the next library card.

I constantly get asked if I want donations for the Library so to answer your question yes. These will be used as part of the other big event this year. During the Henry Lawson Festival I will be hosting a second-hand book sale here in the library. So, for those who want to do that clean up and get rid of their unwanted books, magazines, CDs and DVDs we will be between this week and late May holding drop off times. So, keep an eye out for these date, times and location.

The first two drop off times are Thursday 12 April between 9am and midday and Friday 13 April between 2 and 4pm. Please drop these off to our storage space at the back of the building off George St. You will be met by volunteers to place these downstairs. Please do NOT bring them into the library. More dates and times will be announced soon.

The April school holidays are upon us again. The library will be hosting a craft session on Friday 20th between 10.30am and midday. As Mother’s Day is coming up why not come down and make your own presents and cards for Mum.
