Library Lines for week beginning 20 November 2017

Are you up to the challenge of the Summer Reading Club? If so, this year’s theme is Game On. So, I challenge you to participate, attend an event throughout the summer, collect token prizes as you read and go into the overall prize draw at the end of January.

This summers registration will begin at 3pm on Tuesday 5th December in the Library. For every person who registers to participate in the reading club they will receive a pack detailing the program and the upcoming events for January.

There are many activities and events being planned this summer but let’s start with the Christmas craft sessions. Prior to Christmas the library will be holding Christmas origami and craft sessions which will require bookings as places are limited to ten per session. They are for kids aged 7 and over. One session per child due to the limited places.

Session 1 will be Saturday 9 December 10-11am to coincide with the Christmas Carols on Sunday.

Session 2 will be Tuesday 19 December 4-4.45pm.

Bookings will be accepted from Tuesday 28 November for the Saturday session and from Friday 8 December for the Tuesday session.

Other dates to put on your calendar for the upcoming summer are:

Library Closure for Christmas / New Year. The Library will be closed from midday Saturday 23 December until Tuesday 2 January at 10.30am so please come on down and ensure that you have your reading materials and DVDs for the week. All due dates will skip across this week, but the after-hours chute will be available. If you will be away longer than the usual three weeks over the summer, please let me know and I can adjust your loan period upfront.

Between January 19 and February 2, 2018, the Library will be hosting the May Gibbs traveling exhibition. This is a magnificent exhibition celebrating the work of May Gibbs. During this time there will also be some craft activities so keep an eye out for dates and times.

This week’s magazine titles we received the Australian Country, Real Living, Australian Artist, Australian Home Beautiful, Gardening Australia, Taste, Instyle, Marie Claire, Choice Computer, Choice and Handmade.
