Library Lines for week beginning 13 November 2017

The summer holidays are fast approaching. There will be a few events prior to the Christmas shutdown so keep an eye out as some of these events will require bookings due to limited spaces. Plus the Summer Reading Program will be kicking off as usual in the first week of December.

This week’s magazine titles have been quieter than usual. This week we received the Australian Patchwork & Quilting, Small Farms, Australian House & Garden and the Christmas edition of Better Homes & Garden.

Our new non-fiction titles this week include Notes from a small island by Bill Bryson, The sound of summer : a memoir by Jim Maxwell, The life-changing magic of tyding up by Marie Kondo, The husband hunters : social climbing in London & New York by Anne De Courcy, Mirror Sydney by Vanessa Berry, Holding the man by Timothy Conigrave, Goodbye Christopher Robin by Ann Thwaite, Chappelle’s last stand by Michael Sexton, All the burning bridges by Steve Bisley, Only fools and stories by David Jason and Mr Showbiz : the biography of Robert Stigwood by Stephen Dando-Collins.

New fiction titles for this week include Sanctuary by Judy Nunn, award winner Lincoln in the bardo by George Saunders and Her mother’s secret by Natasha Lester.

For the kids we have the new Timmy Failure series by Stephan Pastis. Titles include We meet again, The book you’re not supposed to have, Mistakes were made and Sanitized for your protection.

We also have new talking book titles for the kids this week. These include The wizards of once by Cressida Cowell, Laugh out loud by James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein and The twinkling tutu by Gwyneth Rees.

The Easy Reader Collection for the kids is being updated and this week we have the latest titles to be released for loan. These include Stamp and clap!, Obi’s party, Making music, The happy whistle, In my den, Big voice, little voice, Goal!, I spy, Bouncy balloons, One, two … sharing with you!, A walk in the park and Wibble, wobble by Gill Budgell, Yowie and the mean Earth-munching grumkin by Geoff Pike and Bryce Courtenay, Here is the flower and Art fun by Kelly Gaffney, In the sea, In the playhouse, Here is a robot, Look at the picture, Look at me and In the water by Anne Giulieri, The monkey and the bug, Look at the bee, The zookeeper, My toy box, In my car, I go up and Up here by Jay Dale, Bradford street buddies : springtime blossoms, Kingfisher readers : robots, Day and night by Shira Evans

Plus, many talking books and large print books have been added to the collections this week as new titles thanks to the State Library.
